A little about me: I am a freelance illustrator based out of NYC, creating work in spurts as the inspiration arises, and when I'm not being lazy or working in my other life as a nurse, wife and mom :)
For me, making art puts the world in perspective and helps me to make sense of life when my brain can't. I use illustration, printmaking, and painting to express my feelings and experiences. My art has a mind of its own, and often emerges with re-occurring characters that I have gotten to know over the years. I see them as dear, but bewildered. They long to be disobedient but are incapable of shedding their sweetness. The frustration that comes from this tension is exhausting, and some tire in desperation while others finally break out into anger. I feel that their physical disproportion mirrors their emotional befuddlement.
Like writing and music, art helps us to share emotional experiences that are difficult to express. I hope that when people see my art, they can share the validation that comes from my strange cast of characters. Enjoy and thank you for visiting!
